The Formula One world has been set on fire this week by a public spat between Jos Verstappen, father of star driver Max Verstappen, and Christian Horner, Team Principal of Red Bull Racing. The drama happened after Jos Verstappen withdrew from the famous Old stories Parade at the Austrian Grand Prix.
Verstappen accuse (of a crime)/ reports that Horner actively interfered to prevent him from participating in the parade, going so far as to secure/make sure of he wouldn't be allowed behind the wheel of a car and that no video of him would be (recorded on a camera or computer). This statement that someone has done something bad has sent shockwaves through the F1 community, hinting a fight between the two men.
This latest event comes right behind previous tensions between Verstappen and Horner. Earlier this year, Horner was charged with a crime of inappropriate behavior towards a female Red Bull Racing employee. Although Horner was cleared of wrongdoing after an act of asking questions and trying to find the truth about something , leaked WhatsApp messages appeared to go against the official findings. Verstappen has commented on the internal conflict within Red Bull Racing, stating that "the team is in danger of being torn apart." With the already dangerous and unstable relationship between Verstappen and Horner now exploding into public view, the comment rings truer than ever
Only time will tell how this latest fight/disagreement will affect Red Bull Racing on and off the track. However, one thing is certain: the spotlight will be firmly on the team in the coming weeks.
